One route, start to finish
The trip starts at Gendron. The valley narrows within the first few paddle strokes: 70-metre cliffs drop into clear water and forest clings to the rock. Herons, kingfishers and beavers live along the banks.
Halfway down, the river passes below a listed castle. A few light rapids liven up the run, then the current eases before the finish at Anseremme, on the Meuse, on the edge of Dinant.
A steady river
From April to October, depending on the flow measured at Gendron, three situations can arise:
- Usual conditions: the trip runs as normal.
- Low water: a few short stretches on foot may be needed, especially in summer.
- Exceptional flood: navigation is suspended.
You must portage around the weir. Check the Lesse water level before you leave.

Children under 6 go free, seated in the middle of a double kayak. The Lesse also welcomes groups: birthdays, stag and hen parties, school trips.
Making a day of it
Anseremme is close to Dinant, with its citadel, and a few kilometres from Han-sur-Lesse and its caves. Many paddlers do the river in the morning and go sightseeing in the afternoon.
