The hire company and how it works
The hire is provided by Kayaks Libert, an independent hire company based in Anseremme. On Kayak Ardennes, you pay only the platform fee online, that is 10% of the hire price. The hire price itself is paid to the hire company on site, on the day of your trip. The hire contract is concluded directly with them.
Here you do not choose a departure time: the hire company sets it. In return, your place is guaranteed once the booking is made.
Five boats to choose from

How the trip runs
- Report at the time given by the hire company, at quai de Meuse 1 in Anseremme.
- Take the train to Gendron-Celles station: the ride is included in the price. The station is about 5 minutes from the start.
- Attend the safety briefing, then put on the life jacket, which is compulsory for the whole trip.
- Paddle the 12 km of the Lesse, allowing about 3 h. A portage is compulsory at the weir.
- Land at Anseremme, where your day began.
What is included, and what to bring
The hire company provides the boat, a paddle, a CE-approved life jacket, a waterproof bucket for your phone and belongings, a briefing and the train ride.
You should bring:
- clothing that can get wet and closed shoes;
- sun cream, water and a small snack;
- a towel and a change of clothes.
Skill level and safety
The route is rated I-II: small rapids, nothing technical. It suits families, with an adult on board each boat. Being able to swim is recommended and the life jacket stays fastened from start to finish.
When the water is low, short sections on foot are possible; in flood, paddling is suspended. Check the Lesse water level before you leave and read the Lesse regulations: they set the flow thresholds and closure days.
Going further
The Lesse route describes the scenery, the cliffs and access by car or train. Bookings are open from April to October.
