What the site does
Kayak Ardennes makes the official readings of Ardennes rivers readable: flow, water level, temperature and navigation status, with a fifteen-day chart and the thresholds that matter to paddlers. Guides complement these figures to help you choose a river, a time of year or a route.
For hired routes, the site passes your booking request on to an independent local hire company. It owns no kayaks and does not supervise trips: the hire contract is concluded with the hire company.
Where the data comes from
The flow, level, temperature and rainfall measurements, as well as the navigation status, are published by the Public Service of Wallonia. We retrieve them automatically and present them unaltered. The forecast flow for the coming days is, by contrast, an estimate calculated by the site: the forecast method details the data used and its limits.
How the site is funded
The site is funded by a 10% platform fee on the hire company’s rate, paid online when you book a trip (minimum €0.50). It shows no advertising or sponsored content. The readings and guides can be consulted freely, without booking. Details are in the booking terms.
Editorial independence
Hire companies neither write nor pay for the content. Statuses and measurements are taken from official sources; when the water level is not favourable, the site says so, even if this reduces bookings. The legal notice states who publishes the site and which hire companies receive requests.
