Between the slate ridges
This is the only Semois route that does not start at Alle: the shuttle first takes you to Poupehan, from where you paddle ten kilometres down to Alle-sur-Semois. Breaks included, allow 2 h to 3 h.
Here the river draws its tightest meanders. You follow the slate ridges of Frahan, with viewpoints over Rochehaut, and unspoilt riverbank vegetation. There is no technical difficulty: the Semois stays at grade I, with a peaceful current.
Who is it for?
For those who have paddled once before, or who want more dramatic scenery than on Alle – Vresse without moving up to the long distance. Families whose children are used to sitting for two hours will feel at home. For under-6s, count on the double kayak.
How the day runs
- Report 15 to 30 minutes before your time slot at the hire company in Alle-sur-Semois, where you can park your vehicle free of charge.
- After the safety briefing and the handing out of the life jacket, paddle and waterproof barrel, board the shuttle.
- The shuttle takes you to Poupehan, the put-in point.
- Paddle down the river to Alle, taking breaks along the way.
- The route ends at Alle-sur-Semois, the hire company’s meeting point.

Prices include the 10% platform fee, and the shuttle is included in the hire.

Departure times
Only three departures: 10:00, 11:30 and 13:00. You start at Poupehan, after the shuttle ride from Alle.
What is included, and what to bring
Included are the kayak, paddle, compulsory life jacket, a waterproof barrel, the briefing and the shuttle. Bring:
- 1.5 L of water per person, sun cream, a hat and a picnic;
- quick-drying synthetic clothing rather than cotton;
- closed shoes that can get wet;
- a windproof jacket if the weather is cool.
Children and dogs
A child can board at any age, with an adult in the same boat and a suitable life jacket. Under-6s go free in the middle of a double kayak. Dogs are welcome free of charge: mention it when you book. For a dog new to kayaking, it is better to choose the shortest route.
Booking and payment
The hire company is Récréalle, independent, in Alle-sur-Semois. Online, you pay only the 10% platform fee. The hire is paid on site to the hire company on the day of your trip. See the booking terms and the prices table.
Water level
